They go well beyond a narrow set of technical skills, asking and answering questions like: how have humans at different times and places managed complex challenges including wars, pandemics, natural disasters, or genocides?Ĭitizenship and cultural fluency in a country like ours today have rarely been so important. History majors nurture curiosity about diversity and unpredictability. They are encouraged to excel in changing environments.

The Mayor of Sibiu Astrid Fodor and our "Sister Cities" program are hosting my 1st Romanian book launch for my award-winning poetry book "Green Horses on the Walls." The event will be in English but rest assured you will hear Romanian as some of my poetry is bilingual. Sibiu (the 2007 "European Capital of Culture") is in the heart of Transylvania and the city that Romania's current president Klaus Iohannis is from.
